CAPAC MISSION

The Creative And Performing Arts Center (CAPAC) provides underrepresented youth and adults with educational opportunities in theater and in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines to promote problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills.

Why give:

CAPAC was established to bridge performing arts gaps for underinvested communities in and surrounding Prince William County, Virginia. Further research shows that similar gaps are relevant in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) workforces.

According to Pew Researchers Kennedy, Fry, & Funk (2021), Blacks (9%) and Hispanics (8%) are underrepresented in science, technology, engineering and math jobs, relative to their presence in the overall U.S. workforce, particularly among workers with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Further they state, there has been no change in the share of African American workers in STEM jobs since 2016.
