AMBASSADORS of Creative and Performing Arts Center Inc.
CAPAC continues to provide educational opportunities for participants to learn life skills through the arts. According to research conducted by Americans for the Arts, “Arts improve academic performance. Students with an education rich in the arts have higher GPAs and standardized test scores, and lower drop-out rates--benefits reaped by students regardless of socio-economic status. Students with 4 years of arts or music in high school average 100 points better on their SAT scores than students with just one-half year of arts or music." The recent extension of the CAPAC Ambassadors accommodates this educational opportunity.
The CAPAC Ambassadors are touring ensembles that provide high quality education and performances based on artistic excellence. Through the CAPAC Ambassadors, experienced artists have an opportunity to enhance their skills via routine arts based instruction within vocal and dance genres. The CAPAC Ambassadors were created in response to the community's requests for quality performances outside of the theatre. Since the community has also requested acting talent, our goal is to add acting to the CAPAC Ambassadors programming.
The first members of the CAPAC Ambassadors are the Sankofa Singers. Sankofa is a word in the Akan language of Ghana or African Proverb meaning, "We must go back and reclaim our past so we can move forward." This name was inspired by the late Erotida "Lillian" Gaskill, who was an integral part of CAPAC's beginning. The artists are comprised of experienced youth and adult vocalists singing various genres of music (i.e Broadway, Gospel, Jazz etc.) Our songbirds are seeking to spread their wings and take flight to entertain guests at your next gala, anniversary, luncheon etc.
The second installment of the CAPAC Ambassadors are the Bailamos Dancers. The name, inspired by the unparalleled choreographer of the group Catrina Stroman, means "We Dance" in Spanish. The Bailamos Dancers offers youth and adult experienced artists an opportunity to perform and travel as a dance company. The artists represent a wide range of dance genres, to include jazz, ballet, liturgical and hip-hop.
If you are looking for quality entertainment to enhance your next event, the Sankofa Singers and the Bailamos Dancers are a perfect way to engage your audience.
CAPAC's Event Planning Services is responsible for making arrangements for your event such as, but not limited to scheduling the event, negotiating fees, identifying technical requirements and executing a contract. We are delighted to provide these services to the community.
